What Does Coaching Do? - The Content

LifeStar's coaching is not a pre-packaged self-improvement programme. It is customized for each client's individual needs. Coaching considers the whole person and generally explores all facets of a client's life, not just isolated components. This approach gives a much greater chance that changes will be effective and lasting as most aspects of life are deeply, sometimes unexpectedly, inter-related.

Equal importance is given to big-picture issues as well as developing very specific, achievable action plans. Coaching understands that learning itself is of great value, not just the results, and that large successes are almost always arrived at in small steps.

Working in partnership with you, and taking the lead from the agenda, needs and goals you establish, we will:

first and foremost, listen to you, without being judgmental

keep everything you say in complete confidence

help you translate your goals into clear, practical actions

be honest with you

identify ways you may inadvertently obstruct your own success

confront negative thinking; develop a constructive attitude to life

monitor your progress compassionately and help you keep to your commitments

offer motivation and support, helping you navigate life transitions or career change;
steer a course so that you end up where you want to be

be there, be there, be there - supporting, encouraging and - applauding your success

Coaching does not focus on the past, on where you have come from, why you are where you are now, or even why you can't get everything you want. Coaching helps clarify the present in order to move you enthusiastically into a desired and designed future. It is never about what you do wrong. A coach wants what you want for yourself, and a great coach will naturally see you as you yourself aspire to be.

The coach is never an expert on your life - you alone can be that, so the coach does not seek to direct you, only support you. You determine the outcomes you want to work towards. However, we all have our blind spots, so a coach is attentive to pick up and reflect back useful information which may be outside your field of vision, which can help you move forward.

Coaching can involve an interchange of creative ideas and experience, but it draws primarily from the client's own innate wisdom which may develop and expand in the process. This alone can make coaching immensely valuable since accessing inner wisdom is not always a well-developed skill.

How Does Coaching Work? - The Process

The majority of individual life coaching is conducted very successfully by telephone, where information can be shared in privacy allowing maximum focus and convenience for the client.

Typically there are three or four telephone coaching sessions of forty-five to sixty minutes each during a month, at prearranged times that suit you. How many sessions or months depends on you and your goals. One month may be sufficient for concisely defined objectives. Wider ranging issues, whole-life changes and lasting transformation rarely happen overnight and a three month commitment would generally be recommended here, with the possibility of continuing month to month thereafter, as required. In any case, we work to bring you to the results you seek as quickly as possible.

In addition to the telephone sessions, most LifeStar coaching programmes include unlimited contact with the coach via e-mail. If occasional short phone calls are needed between sessions, where possible, these are accommodated.

It is common to have mutually agreed explorations, exercises or contemplations to pursue between sessions. Together with your coach, you help select and devise the methods and techniques that will work most effectively for you and are appropriate to your situation.

To be totally productive, discussions with a coach must be open and honest, so the discretion of your life coach must be guaranteed. Hence, your LifeStar coach signs a comprehensive client confidentiality agreement for you before any coaching takes place.

Where Does Coaching Lead? - The Outcome

Professional life coaching can be readily applied to most physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of human life. It does not look outside to the ideas, rules, models or judgements of others. It is not a rigid action plan to be implemented without options or deviation. Coaching accelerates the discovery of clear, empowering answers and solutions unique to each client; answers that ring with certainty; solutions that move you forward.

The client determines the objectives - from minor improvements or substantial change to fundamental transformation, in one or many areas of personal or business life, such as relationships, career, health, finances, physical environment, personal growth, enjoyment and recreation. Balance can be restored to your life in a way that frees up energies and minimises conflicts. Your commitment and willingness to engage with yourself is crucial.

Accessing the inner wisdom for which we are innately equipped becomes far easier when it is not drowned out by our own tangled lives. With practise we all have the aptitude. As confidence grows, clients can greet change and overcome challenges as a natural part of life rather than as feared interruptions.

What Does Coaching Cost? - The Fees

At LifeStar Coaching we are clear about the value of what we do: we deliver high-quality, effective coaching which has an enduring impact on people's lives. This website aims to give prospective clients sufficient information and points of reference to clearly assess coaching and the significance of investing in their future.

Most experienced life coaches charge fees comparable to other well trained professionals. Coaching rates in the UK currently range from around £50 up to £500 or more, per session. On this scale, our fees are very moderate - not the cheapest, but nowhere near the most costly.

Fee arrangements are discussed in detail during a free introductory consultation, when we have an understanding of your situation, current goals and the kind of commitment you want to make, and you have clarity on what coaching can offer you.
